Member Spotlight
It’s fitting we are shining our spotlight on Postal Dispatch Business Center this month, considering they opened for business twelve years ago on October 10, 2005.
For this brother-sister team, family is the name of the game. Owner, John Koplos, puts it this way: “After twelve years in a local strip mall, many of our customers have become friends and some are almost like family. We have wept at many of their deaths but also have had the great honor of printing their funeral programs. It’s the things they can do for people at their most vulnerable that, I think, sets small businesses apart from their corporate counterparts.”
“Another thing we do for people,” says John’s sister and Postal Dispatch’s production manager, Mary Jo Koplos, “is print resumes free of charge and we never, ever, charge people to make copies of death certificates. These are small things but they can make a big difference in a person’s day, especially if they are out of work or navigating the difficult waters of a family member’s passing.”
As far as go-to local businesses, for both “Kopli,” as their family likes to call themselves, it is “hands down” their next door neighbor at Normandale Village Shopping Center and MetroIBA member Hope Chest for Breast Cancer. “I cannot tell you how many amazing pieces of furniture and accessories I have found there. And it all is for a wonderful cause,” says Mary Jo
According to John, “Because we are a small, retail business (in addition to John and Mary Jo there are two part-time employees), we generally are unable to make it to any events, but we believe so strongly in the power of small local businesses and their need for support that we are happy to be involved in whatever ways we are able. For the most part, that has been producing MetroIBA’s monthly newsletter. So, since we rarely make it to networking meetings, please stop by and greet us in our store. We’d love to get to know you!”
Postal Dispatch Business Center is a full-service mail and parcel center and business services provider.
Wondering how your business can be in the spotlight? One way is by attending MetroIBA’s networking events on the first Tuesday of the month. One attending member is selected by random drawing to be our member spotlight in the newsletter, online and in social media. Contact info@metroiba.org or 612.404.0268 with questions or suggestions.
