MetroIBA is excited to announce that Beatrice Owen will be our new Executive Director. Those attending the Annual Meeting Gala had the pleasure of meeting Beatrice, whose enthusiasm is contagious. Beatrice’s first day on the job will be April 17th. We welcome Beatrice and look forward to working with her.
With over twenty years of experience in the non-profit sector, Beatrice brings her enthusiasm, dedication, and common sense to community issues. A recently returned Minnesotan, she spent four years working for a county-wide community coalition in Northwest Indiana, Porter County Substance Abuse Council. The members of the coalition worked on committees to affect change in the community, and they were successful. Her background includes building a displaced worker program in Gary, working with community members and receiving certification in logistics. In addition, she spent over ten years as information systems manager at a substance abuse facility in central Ohio.
Beatrice received her bachelor’s from Gustavus Adolphus College and her master’s from The Ohio State University. In addition, she has received training in a number of topic areas including management, software applications, and strategic planning. She has been volunteering with the Festival of Nations and is a board member for Consortium Carissimi.
